Murphy provides thoughtful and insightful answers to questions about his career, the team's goals and his personal aspirations.
Murphy, a redshirt freshman, has taken the reins of the Blue Devils' offense and led them to a 4-1 start in 2023, including a road win over a ranked Kansas team.
In a recent interview with The Chronicle, Murphy discussed his journey to Duke, his goals for the season, and his aspirations for the future.
On his journey to Duke:
Murphy grew up in Lithonia, Georgia, and was a standout quarterback at Stephenson High School. He committed to Duke in 2021 and enrolled in January 2022.
Murphy said he chose Duke because of the school's strong academic reputation and its commitment to football.
On his goals for the season:
Murphy said his goals for the season are to lead the Blue Devils to a bowl game and win the ACC Coastal Division.
He said he also wants to improve his own play and become a more consistent passer.
On his personal aspirations:
Murphy said he wants to play in the NFL and eventually become a starting quarterback.
He said he knows he has a lot of work to do, but he is confident in his abilities and his work ethic.
